Dear Poltava residents!
One of the most common forms of human rights violations is violence.
Domestic violence - an act (action or inaction) of physical, sexual, psychological or economic violence committed within the family or within the place of residence or between relatives, or between former or current spouses, or between other persons who live (lived) together as one family, but are not (were not) in family relations or married to each other, regardless of whether the person who committed domestic violence lives (lived) in the same place as the victim, as well as threats to commit such acts (Article 1 of the Закону України «Про запобігання та протидію домашньому насильству»).
According to Законом України «Про запобігання та протидію домашньому насильству» there are four types of violence: physical violence, sexual violence, psychological violence, and economic violence.
Physical violence:
Beating, kicking, pushing Obstruction of free movement Forced to use alcohol or drugs Creating situations that pose a risk or threat to life and health Threatening with weapons or other things that can cause physical harm Deprivation of care during illness or pregnancy Transportation to another place within the country or abroad by deception or coercion
Sexual violence:
Forcing you to have unwanted sexual relations Touching intimate parts of your body without consent Forcing you to have sexual intercourse with another person Forcing you to engage in unacceptable forms of sex, sadistic practices Forcing you to wear revealing clothing or behave against your will Forcing you to watch sexual acts between other people Forcing you to participate in creating or viewing pornographic materials.
Psychological violence:
Threats to kill or maim (including children) Verbal insults and humiliation through gestures and facial expressions Threats to take children away Blackmail and manipulation, misleading for personal gain Bullying (harassment, persecution, intimidation) Constant and complete control Disrespect for the individual Constant criticism and ridicule Unfounded accusations and guilt-making Restrictions on contact with family and friends, choice of social circle Disregard for the right to honor and dignity Unfounded jealousy, accusations of betrayal Discrimination based on beliefs, religion, origin, status Forcing to watch violence against other people or animals Threatening to deprive the individual of their home or personal property
Economic violence:
Deprivation of food and water Restriction of access or deprivation of housing Damage to personal property Obstruction of access to necessary services Deprivation of personal funds and other material assets Property blackmail Prohibition of employment or education Forced to beg
Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated August 22, 2022 No. 658 approved the Procedure for Interaction of Entities Implementing Measures in the Field of Prevention and Counteraction to Domestic Violence and Gender-Based Violence.
The coordinator of such events in the Poltava city territorial community is the Department of Culture, Youth and Family of the Poltava City Council.
